Progress by the Minute!
Sooooo much happened today. Gina's therapy went wonderfully. She can now answer some yes or no questions by pointing to yes or no signs. She can let us know if she's in pain and where the pain is. She also has a chart with eight pictures on it showing different things like a TV, a book, music, a movie, etc. and she knows how to look for what she wants and is able to point it out. She underwent her first trach downsizing...good news in that this is moving toward permanent removal.
We're so impressed with her ability. The determination she's always had is clearly showing through now!

Great news, Mimi!...Tonite was nuts at MRM...all of the kids were wired for sound...both in the lodge and on the hill.
There were squadrons of kids straight lining EVERYWHERE! Then, about 7:30, the hill set up and the patrol was taking kids off the hill two at a time. This is the first time since I joined the school school that I was "nervous" being on the hill...Kids going too fast and MRM needing to get the Zamboni out and smooth things out.
I heard about that chart Gina was using. When they showed snowboard pictures, she put her finger in her throat. When they showed skiers, her eyes lit up and she whispered, "YESSSsssss!"
Paul, Val thought you were a fine young man by going on about how great of a mom Mimi has been during this whole ordeal. Did you do something wrong and are working the system??
Inquiring minds need to know...
Hi Mimi,
It's so good to hear about Gina's progress. I was bummed and happy at the same time to come to work and see that you guys were gone.I hope and pray that Gina continues to make improvements so she can come back to the SICU to visit us! Please take care and if you need anything don't hesitate to ask. It was an awesome pleasure to take care of Gina! She is very lucky to have such wonderful, loving parents!
Sara (one of Gina's ICU nurses)
Hey Paul...JD has your number! (Papa says nothing, knows nothing, left the room...). We will be down later to bug you all.

We continue to be amazed by Gina's progress...she has been an incredible fighter. Nothing can stop her now...she has the power of a healing labrador - our mocha (chocolate lab) knows she is in the right paws.
Paul...dinner tonight?
