Gina's surgery went exactly as planned yesterday. No complications or problems. Nothing much happened after that; lots of rest and sleep. They were able to get her back off the ventilator (standard procedure after surgery) and onto just a trach mask with oxygen. Three more steps up the hill accomplished. ;-)

Hi Gina, Mimi & Paul. I have been waiting all day to hear of your progress and I am so thrilled that the surgery is behind you and you must be much more comfortable without all that stuff on your face. Your face is too pretty to hide. Frank raked my yard and washed my car today! I sure will miss my brother when he moves out here soon. Nothing like family. Keep climbing that mountain and remember the God on the mountain is the same in the valley and he is always with you. Much love, Aunt Janie
Hi Gina, It's Grandma Roz, you looked so nice and peaceful today, probably worn out from yesterday. I know you need lots of rest and I'm glad your able to get it. Aunt Elaine came by and we all had lunch together. She is very much concerned but knows your on your way to better days as your recovery is moving along well. She brought a canister of her homemade cookies and I'm sure your dad isn't going to save any for you sorry to say, ha. Lots of love to you honey, be back soon. Love, Grandma Roz
Oh my gosh, such good news yesterday and today!! Keep up the great progress!!

Gina,
It's Bonnie, Brooke Zimmer's Mom. Brooke sure misses you as do all the other kids at school. When they are at our house I hear your name and everyone's asking who read today's blog. They are already scheming for your birthday, so you need to hurry up and get out of the ICU so they can deliver their presents personally. Mimi and Paul, I'm glad Gina is continuing to make progress and please know our prayers are with you. Remember to take care of yourself as Gina will be a handful when you get her home as you are already aware with the stunts she's pulling on you in the ICU! Love and Prayers to all of you. Bonnie
Mimi,
I read that Gina recognized you at some point. I meant to ask, Is Gina able to nod her head when you ask her yes and no questions? Bonnie
Gina:
It's great to hear your surgery went well.
Your mom and dad had the doc trim your nose hairs and clean the wax out of your ears while he was fixing you up!
Hugs,
JD
Wonderful, wonderful news...thank you so much for the updates!
So for you, Mimi, from one mom to another:
Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.
I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

Keeping you in prayer,

Mimi, read your updates every day, this was a great way to keep everyone updated, your a excellent writer by the way. Glad to see Gina is progressing, tell Gina to keep up the good work, We miss you at MRM. Cynthia Orr
Mimi, Paul, and Gina,
Every time we are at MRM someone mentions the blog and makes sure that the others are all current on your progress. It makes us all feel like we are right there beside you cheering you on! Take care and keep up the progress. So glad the operation went well and hope that makes you more comfortable. Cheryl and Chris
Hi Gina! I read your blog just about every day so I can hear how you are doing. I think of you all the time but particularly last Saturday when my husband and I drove up to Lima. We drove past your snowboarding mountain.....Yikes, and I said I would go snowboarding with you!!! What was I thinking!!! Is there a baby mountain up there somewhere for me?? Anyway, it sounds like you are making progress and hope you realize how many people care about you and want you to get back on your feet again. If you can do that, I won't make such a big deal when you skin your knees. Love ya and miss you at Kohl's, Susan M.
